Corporate politics is a dirty word!

Corporate politics has many faces. One of those is when people try to pit you against a peer to get things done. Another one is to put the peer on a pedestal.

One of my bosses had this habit. He will always say great things about another person in his conversation with me.

It was only after many months that I accidentally had lunch with the other person, who said, “Boss always says great things about you, although he never praised me.”

I understood it was the boss’s way to control his next line. It was his way of saying – “you have a lot of scope for improvement”.

A negative mindset person will read this as – “You are not good enough!”. It may sound like the boss is playing dirty politics. After all, corporate politics is a word that only arouses negative feelings.

A vibrant corporate culture is a dynamic place.

There are many parties with varying interests and agendas. You are a small part of that zigsaw. If you know how to fit into the puzzle, you will thrive.

Or else, you will say, “Corporate politics is a dirty word!”

Do you agree?
