One thing that I come across repeatedly when I do CV reviews is a:
“Statement of What I want to do”.
The statement usually starts something like this – “I am a highly motivated, enthusiastic….person and want to take up a leadership/managerial/lead/sales/finance etc. role in an esteemed organization”.
The challenge with such statements made in the CV is that:
This is not going to cut it.
The person looking at the CV wants to understand what you have done so far, your role, and your value add rather than you stating what you want to do.
Keep that for the conversation when you are asked what interests you or what is your long-term goal.
Please understand that a
“CV is a statement of fact, which is enhanced by the art of storytelling”.
Also, a
“CV is not a statement of aspiration”.
The fact and the storytelling element together will enhance your CV in that it should convey what you intend to do next.
Hope this helps many of you who are trying so hard in this trying time.
Please work hard on your CV, as it is the first step between where you are and where you want to be.
